Green Hydrogen

The use of hydrogen gas is key to our renewable energy future. Hydrogen burns without carbon emissions and can be produced from a variety of sources, but currently the most dominant production method uses fossil fuels. The NREL Foundation and NREL are working together on hydrogen programs that rely on renewable energy power sources for hydrogen production. Read more about these programs.

The NREL Foundation is a non-profit entity that is independent of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Alliance for Sustainable Energy, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
